Wow, I've been busy at home so I haven't had a chance to check on here for a while, so many new posts to catch up on!

My friend and I fished the Cumberland river this past Saturday and even though it was pretty miserable out for the first 1-2 hours with the cold and the wind, it turned out to be a pretty decent day after all. We ran up and down the river and tried different areas and it gave me a chance to play with my new HDS-9 Touch.

If I remember right, my friend caught all his bass on a swimbait and I caught mine on a watermelon-colored Bitsy Bug Jig (I also had a few good bites on a Senko which I missed, and I lost what felt like a decent fish on a rattle trap – how a bass gets unhooked on a lure that has 2 treble hooks is beyond me because those hooks get stuck on anything and everything in the boat :D).

What was really cool was firing up my HDS-9 Touch and doing a split screen between sonar and side imaging. As we were going down a channel, the side imaging showed schools of baitfish and then larger fish on the edges, and I could look at the sonar and see that the yellow globs which I had no idea what they were before, were the baitfish, and then I could see the arches which represented the bigger fish on the edge of the baitfish school (I know for most of you this isn't anything new but for an electronics newbie like me, it was really interesting).

Here are a few pics we took...

Nice mess of green fish you caught. I've never fished the Cumberland, but I am told that tubes fished in downtown Nashville are the ticket.

I've seen it but still don't understand what I'm looking at 100% LOL It'll take me a few trips out to start learning that unit but the problem is, who wants to mess with their electronics when there's fishing to be done?

Nice fish Nomad. I presume you were in the Clarksville area on the Cumberland? I need to get up that way and to Barkley, getting tired of being skunked on Old Hickory. For more info and discussion on your new LOwrance, go to Bassboatcentral.com and in the BBC Forums there is a Lowrance forum - http://www.bbcboards.net/lowrance-garmin-sonar-gps/
