Today was the final practice day on Grand Lake (Tulsa, OK) and it snowed. LOL...

Water temps between 44-48 degrees during the day and they still expect an 18lb per day sack to stay in the mix. Looks to be a good one.

Anyone else keep tabs on it?

For me it marks the beginning of bass fishing once it rolls around. I cleaned my gear today and will actually sit the fly rod down for a while. Looking forward to the new season of catching some green fish hopefully some big ones.

I have been trying to watch as much on TV as I can about fishing. They make it look easy. When does bass fishing ramp up around here?

It can be year round if you wanted to since there isn't a freeze over like up north. In my opinion a lot of the biggest bass of the season will come in Jan-March.

Biggest bass of the year will be caught in the 6 weeks. It can be tuff fishing but with plenty of good days too. Late winter and early spring can have huge sacks at weigh-ins. Look up a small 32 boat tournament in New Johnsonville on the Tennessee River. H20 Outdoors put it on. They had an impressive weigh-in. Here is their facebook link

Doesn't matter if it is cold or not, those guys will figure out how to catch them. Mark Pierce is fishing as one of the BASS Nation qualifiers. He is a member of the Montgomery County Bass Club in Clarksville that I am also a part of. Not only is he a great fisherman that will spend time teaching you techniques, he is a fantastic person and also serves full time in the U.S. Army. Here's a picture of his boat from practice yesterday.2647

Mark used to live almost across the street from me; he's good people. He caught the biggest bass of the classic (7.4 pounds), right?

Was a good classic this year with a well deserving champion. There were a couple of younger guys doing well as well.
