Snorkie AKA "da Snorkster", is a Schnauzer/Yorkie mix, hence the brilliant name "Snorkie". Right now, he weighs in at ten pounds and should be about max'ed out. We bought (ahem, re-homing fee) him from a young couple that had moved into an apartment where they weren't allowed pets.

They didn't know his age (???) so when we took him to the vet to get all his shots, have the Home Again ID chip implanted and checked up, they said he was probably four to six months old. This would put him around a year old now.

The wife and baby are in Germany visiting her parents so I, being retired and of a, sometimes, sound mind, was entrusted with the care of Snorkie. I wanted to go sauger fishing and these trips can sometimes be all day affairs. I didn't want to keep the dog locked up in his cage at home all day, and we can't let him roam the house. He chews everything he can get in his mouth, so I threw his cage, blanket and doggie bed in the truck, figuring he can sleep on the boat while I fish. I fish out of an 18 ft Stratos bass boat so there was plenty of room for his cage and bed.

Of course I had to police up all my lures, jigs, stray hooks, sinkers, twistertails that were scattered around the boat, as I tend to cut one lure/jig/hook off and throw it on the floor and tie on another and keep fishing. It tends to be messy after a few trips!

Well, Snork has never been around lakes, rivers stream, etc. so it was all new and interesting to him. As soon as I let him out of the truck, (after I launched and tied the boat to the dock) he runs straight into the water and he jumped back and looked at it like it had bit him. Once we were fishing (after his little swim and he was dry again) he prowled the boat, finding twistertails I didn't know existed, chewed the braided line on one of my red/reel strapped to the deck, and growled at every limb/stick/log that dared to come close to the boat. BUT, he didn't jump in the water any more.

After fighting the very swift current, getting hung up and breaking off probably 10-12 times and trying to keep an eye on the dog, AND not getting any bites, I capitulated to common sense and went home!

Wow that's quite a first trip for the little guy. I'll take my 90lb chocolate lab out about three time a year on the kayak. It's mostly just her jumping off the kayak and climbing back on. I usually take a few lures, and just two rods.

Merv,

I am so glad that beautiful young girl got her looks from her Mother. I can tell you are going to have the cleanest guns in Tennessee when she gets old enough to date. Better start trying to hit a moving target now.

LOL, having hunted from the age of 11 and shooting guns all my life, earning the "Expert" medal in the Army, I will admit to being pretty good with all types of guns.

The good thing is, my wife is extremely proficient with a handgun also. So if I'm not around to handle a problem Mama's got it covered!
