The on-line version of the newspaper has room for public comment. There were 8 comments entered; 5 of them were by the Corps. (At least they are monitoring public opinion.) In their comments, they say the sign pictured in the paper is an old one. It is a flip-up that is used in high water situations. That comment apparently suggests that it is not a new sign. In looking at the digital image on-line, I would agree. Thanks Rick <'TK><
So, they already have a old method to restrict boat access our during dangerous flow conditions? Why the need for the barriers?

If I am not mistaken there was an agreement made between TWRA & Corps to not have a banned area if approved life vest were wore at all times below the tailwaters.
That is part of the stink to it. An arrangement was in place and the fatalites at least some of the recent ones in question were due to failure of the individual to properly use the vest if they had one on at all.
Someone correct me if I am wrong or have my info mixed up.

The signs below JPP have been there for a couple of years, but the only time they are "flipped open" is when they are generating or spilling, even with low amounts of water flowing, when the signs are "closed" you couldnt get a boat up there any ways as there is no water.....wth...........
