Had a good day. Fished 0700 to 1700 , nice cloudy, warm no rain day. Caught a lot of good fish. Saw some eagles and turkey and nary a soul .

That was a good day for sure. Do you catch or buy your bait? Shad or creek chubs?

Old sailor should be arrested for cruel and unusual punishment of those that have to work during the week. Killing me seeing those fish And then looking at that stack of paperwork on my desk. Good job old sailor. Keep the pics coming. I am a strong man I can take it.

That is amazing, Old Sailor. I went last Saturday after getting skunked on Dale Hollow, and couldn't even pic anything up at the Center Hill Dam.

What a fish!! Did it make the 24" mark? What did you catch it on?

I'll be back in Cookeville next week to finish my last semester at TTU so as usual, whenever I can find a few free hours I'll be in the Caney. One of my goals this year is to land a 24" brown. I don't have a boat so I'll be doing a lot of fishing from the steps during generation trying to get one. Anytime you guys are down there and want to join forces let me know.

Not you I'm worried about. I'm afraid I'll find AH out there on one leg! http://fishingtn.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Had several around 25 inches. I only use little yellow belly spring lizards. http://fishingtn.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Old Sailor has taken me under his wing and revealed his secret bait to me. As he said he uses yellow belly lizards. I have attached a picture of them to help you get an idea and know what you are looking for in case you want to catch some. Remember big bait=big brown trout.

Caution, they are hard to get in a livewell.

Interesting. Last time I used one of those for bait they were actually eating the trout I was after :D

Not familiar with the yellow bellies. Seriously, there used to be kids around Center Hill who would catch spring lizards and sell them to fishermen. Believe me, anything that swims in Center Hill (maybe even the jet skiiers) will eat spring lizards.
Try to find a kid to wade around in a creek and catch spring lizards today.
Guess I've just betrayed my age.

Know what you mean. I used to sell them for a dollar a dozen way back when. Doll fly tipped with a spring lizard was a big time smallie bait back then.

My girls (2.5 & 5) hunt them in the creeks every year. We try to explore outside at least a couple times a week weather permiting. About the only things the girls won't handle is a helgrammite. But then again, those and the fully changed dobson fly can be pretty freaky to a kid.
