Merv (agelessone) and I headed out at 630am and fished until about 130 at the steam plant. Over 30 fish were caught between the two of us. Sauger, white bass, LM and spotted bass, crappie, catfish, and tilapia. I caught about a dozen LM or spotted bass when I decided to strictly bass fish with a zoom finesse worm, the largest one was 13.5 inches so unfortunately I had to release it, all of them were caught on 4lb test so it was fun. All 3 catfish Merv caught on curltail grubs, also on 4lb test so he had quite a battle. I went home with a cooler full of 5 white bass, 1 yellow bass, 5 crappie, and 2 tilapia. Some I caught, some Merv caught and let me take home. It was cold and a little wet but a great fishing day indeed. Gotta go, I have fish to clean :D

Sounds like a great day of fishing.

I think that is the first big slabs in a sink photo we have had since Alphahawk went down.

Thanks, yea the biggest was 13" and the others all hung around 11". Can't decide how I'm going to cook them yet but I'm looking forward to eating them!

Ha... I'm not even in the same discussion as Alpha when it comes to crappie fishing. I don't fish for crappie specifically. I was after the whites and the crappie wanted to play. I got them all on a blue fox spinner.

Merv got that one and yea it was big, one of the bigger ones I've seen. I've never eaten one of those because everytime I catch one it's a 7 incher at most. I hear they're even better than white bass, I'll find out soon.

Nice catch!

Take some pics of dinner too :)

Edit: Ok, I'll ask; which one is the yellow bass?

The fish on the far right of the red cutting board. Yellow bass have bolder stripes than white bass, and of course a yellow tint to them.

Nice pics. I was out there with a buddy on Thursday 27th and had the same luck. Tilapia, Yellow Bass, Striper, white bass and catfish. Caught most on trout magnet and cut skipjack. Tried live skippies too but no luck. The buddy I was with had a great time. It was his first trip to GSP, first striper and skippies he caught. He usually didnt fish this time a year. He has now changed his mind about that.

Nice fish! Those Yellow Bass are good to eat. Most overlook them because most of the time they are so small....but I love the things. A great day...you had a ton of fun and went home with some fine table fare....don't get much better than that.

And now that you point that out, the yellow bass stands out plain as day :D

I had no idea there were tilapia in OH, when did they show up? Are they plentiful? Interesting. First I have heard of it. Nice catch by the way.

There is a thread about OH tilapia just recently, within the last couple of weeks or so, check it out. Apparantly they escaped a farm somewhere during a flood and worked there way to the steamplant, which is probably one of the only places they can survive the winter on OH.

I thought they escaped from the bad floods we had a few years ago from local aquariums. Either way, they're delicious. I ate them tonight. I heard TWRA wants to get rid of them so they encourage taking them home to eat.
