Well here is is boys, here is a link to the map of the areas that are going to be restricted: http://www.lrn.usace.army.mil/pao/news/Maps_of_boundaries.htm
Everyone needs to keep on calling, emailing, and writing our legislatures to stop this, whats next not boating at night.

When I read the info on the website it is talking about dangerous situation for boats. I read this as everyone can still fish from the bank. Is that right? It looks like the pond below Center Hill is no more from a boat.

yes i believe you can still fish from bank in all areas you could before, these new restrictions are only for boats for now, but who knows, once they keep us from fishing from a boat in those areas it would be very easy to stop fishing from bank in the same areas......

Boats, wading and/or swimming in the marked areas.
Bank is still okay just can't be in or on the water.

I definitely think they need to clarify more on the bank fishing aspect.
"The restricted areas will be the minimum area allowed per Corps regulations upstream and downstream of locks, dams, and power plant facilities. All forms of water access within the restricted areas will be prohibited including boating, swimming and wading. The Corps continues to promote bank fishing in all areas that were previously approved, including areas adjacent to some restricted areas."
Don't want to come across as dumb or anyting, don't know I'm just not reading it right or what. Are they saying that bank fishing is still allowing in the restricted areas or just outside the restricted area?

You can't be on or in the water within those areas. As long as you are legally fishing in allowed areas and not on private property then you can bank fish all the way to the Dams.

On that topic though TNtransplant, it would not shock me if that was the next step... fencing off the generator side of the Dams. After the ripples from this have settled a bit.

They already fenced that area off.. People just walk around the fence.

I do not see the GSP on their map. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the clarification Travis. I usually fish outside the restricted zone marked on the map. But every once a while I like to walk down to the generators if the generator closest to the bank is on and fish for white bass and smallies. When that generator is on, it pushes the baitfish against the bank, making for easy prey for the predators.

These restrictions are for around dams only. The GSP is run by TVA I believe, so the Corps do not have any authority there. Correct me if I'm wrong though. The banks around the GSP has been off limits though since 9/11.

Yeah that is when they locked it off but I don't think it was as much national security as it gave them an excuse to do so. There was always a problem with litter and car break-ins.
