I am gonna be headed to Percy dam around 3:30 to catch some stockers, and to get some good photos for an article in the Angler Mag. If anyone wants to join, meet me down there or hit me up on here! I will be starting on the generator side. I have an extra rod rigged with a trout mag too:-)

I'm headed that direction in a few minutes to try my luck with some trout mags and rooster tails. Don't think I can stick around until 3:30 though. Have fun! Hope you get some good shots.

Well I had no luck...and Channel 5 has footage to prove it! Apparently they are doing a story on the long and snowy winter we are supposed to have. Could've fooled me today!
I tried both sides of the dam and walked down the greenway a bit. Didn't see anyone else bringing anything in either. Saw a whole lot of EZ trout floats though...

I picked up a nice TM kit @ Academy Sports the other day. They have a new store in Smyrna and Mt. Juliet. TM has improved the latch on the plastic box also I like it!

That color is in the Panfish Kit. If you want to get just that color then Bass Pro is the only place that I have found carrying it.
Depending on where you live... You can order it from Jeff's trout mag site for only $5.95 shipping and probably come out ahead on gas going back/forth to Bass Pro.

My buddy is down there now and he said it is dead! I wonder if they didn't dump them in. I am on my way.

I usually wait a few days after stocking and then go fishing. With the changes in the topography of the river below the dam, the trout can be more difficult to locate compared to several years ago.

Went this AM and started fishing after they stocked. Caught limit and had a great time seeing channel 5 and Doug Markham from TWRA. I tried different colors of TM to see how some new colors would work.
On the way home stopped by Harpeth River in Franklin and look at the work that is going on.Was told that they were suppose to finish up in a few days and it will be ready for when they stock there on 12/14??
The only draw back is the parking lot is really small.

Showed up just as they started surfacing, me and a buddy caught about 60 and missed twice as many! There were some solid 13 inch fatties there! Good times!! All on TM's with 2 lb test and 3 lb flouro leader. Will post some pics soon!

Had a feeling I was just there at the wrong time. It certainly looked fishy out there though. I'm going to try again first thing tomorrow if I can convince myself to roll out of bed...
This may be a stupid question...but how do they get the fish from the truck to the water at a place like Priest Dam? There isn't really anywhere for them to pull up and just dump them in is there? That would be a pretty good workout carrying nets full of fish up and down the stairs on either side. Regardless, I'd like to see them stock on of these locations this winter.

They run them through a pipe down to the water. Keep up with the schedule on TWRA website and you can catch the next one. They put about 3,500 in today.

Does anyone know about what time they start stocking at the different locations. I am sure its not exact but may head up to Springfield tomorrow between 9a-12pm and hopefully they are stocked by then.

I have been present at quite a few places when they stock. It is usually between 10:00 AM and noon. Now that depends on what other locations....if any...they are stocking on same day.

Think it would be better to wait until thursday then? How soon you usually catch them after they get dumped?
My neighbor asked when will be the next time I'll go trout fishing because he wanted to try some. I told him it may be a while before I can get to the Caney but remembered they started stocking's for winter and Springfield is closer than Percy to me.

Travis....a lot of guys say to wait a few days after they have dumped. I have not found that to be true. I have caught them all day long from the second they hit the water. I have found that when they are dumped....depending on location....they will hang around that spot for quite a while....such as when I have been at the Caney and VFW also.

Travis,
Too bad the city of Springfield has put a no-fish curse on you, otherwise it would be a good place for you to take your buddy. :)

Made a first time trip to JPP with the kayak on Sunday. Put in at the dam (no ramp, not fun) and was disappointed to find the water so low by the I40 bridge that we couldn't make it any farther.
I've been told to try to put in by the Lebanon Pike bridge. Is there better water here over the weekend when generation is off?
Any suggestions on the best part of the river to seek them?

I was just hoping to show up at the same time as the TWRA and pick 7 off the truck. Once they hit the water there it's all over for catching them.

This will be a grocery trip so to speak. If I get up there it will be "hopefully" limit then leave as soon as I can or at the every least a couple fish for them to try.

Fishbus the water is considerable deeper over there where you were asking about. I have never fished it a lot but it looks really good.
