Hey guys, I'm somewhat new to fishing in Tennessee. Grew up fishing the Little Red and Buffalo Rivers in Arkansas, and moved to Nashville last year. Spent the summer cat, bass and gar (I only caught a small gar, but my buddy caught a 5'2" big guy in the pic I attached!) fishing at a spot on the Narrows of the Harpeth and a few other creeks I've found near Ashland City where I'm looking to buy a house.
I don't have a boat or access to one so I'm just bank fishing with my dog, but would love to tag along any experienced anglers for some trout fishing - I've never used a fly rod before, but would love to be taught.

I usually fish alone, however I do enjoy taking folks who dont get to boat alot. I catch alot of big trout n rockfish year round. Live bait only!!!! Can take you to cumberland or caneyfork near carthage if you are interested. we should talk about a chaperone though. Ron

That is one nice gar. I caught a small one about 10yrs ago. Not gunna lie it scared me just a little.
As far as trout fishing goes you don't have to use a fly set up. I am just starting my journey in to fly fishing. But you can use an ultra light set up and have great success. I have for years. Inline spinners, crankbaits, trout magnets and old fashion nightcrawlers will catch trout.
Oh and welcome!

I have flyfished for many years off and on and I have never fished for trout. Warmwater fish like flies too and for the last 5 or 6 years I have exclusively fished the long rod. I just find it more enjoyable and satisfying. The question may be do you want to flyfish or trout fish?
