Hi all - I'm looking for info on bank fishing at 7 Points. I live just up the road and can access it within about 1min drive from my house. Really convenient when the mood hits. I also have a canoe - but much easier to just jump in truck with the poles in the back. Also my younger son now wants to come along - so I feel we need to see some action to keep him engaged!

Seven Points from shore? Boat ramp? Picnic area? Trail from picnic area to the point? Swim Area? Campground area (we camp there abunch) There are a lot of options. Any input would be awesome :)

I did put the canoe in with my boys (11y/12y) in at Vivrette last weekend and headed up Suggs Creek for a bit. The weather was so warm, that the bees were out in full force - which drove to paddle back towards the ramp after about 10 casts. Looked like it may be worth heading back up Suggs - anybody have luck in there? We have fished the platforms by the launch at Vivrette a few times with bobber/nightcrawler and landed bream.

I also drive across the PP dam everyday to/from work - is it even worth it for me to fish the lake side of the dam from bank? I have tried about 5x from the Eastern lakeside parking lot - no luck. Anything from the Western lakeside parking lot by the visitor center? Do I need to skip lakeside of dam and go down to tailwater side?

Sorry for so many questions, but I figured this would be the spot to ask. I've poked around this site and have learned a bunch! I appreciate your time!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I fished the seven points area for about 6 hours on Friday and didn't catch a thing. I was trolling for Striper and put everything in the boat out on a line at one point in time. We tried fishing in the afternoon all the way to the pretty dark hours and never got a hit. There was a guy fishing off the farthest point on the east side of the launch with black lights and I never saw him get a hook up either.

Maybe some one else can comment and even help me out on this one. The bait fish were there but I definitely did not find the predators on Friday.

My son and I have fished Vivrette Creek area with some success in the spring and summer from the bank and now with the kayaks. The last time we fished it was a beautiful day about a month ago and caught nothing. But generally speaking it is a good place to fish. You can walk a trail back to some fish attractors and fish them from the bank. A lot of nice crappie are caught there. Right now with the water being so low I have no clue how it fishes. Also I have never fished there in the winter. You can fish below the dam on Percy when water is there....it can be quite productive. Soon they will do the winter trout stocking in December and one can readily catch stocker trout below the dam...not big in size but a lot of fun with right gear. The rip rap all along the dam on the lake side is good to fish. I have not fished there in a while as you have to crawl down the rocks..to old and fat for that anymore...but that area holds fish. Hope this helps you out some.

This will keep them entertained. Right off of seven points, use canned corn for bait on a 1/2oz carolina rig. Works good to cast three or four poles out, give it a decent cast, put the poles on a stick with the bail open, then throw a frisbee till you see one of the poles go off, carp on. They can be a serious fight for a young one, or anybody.

Thanx for the comments - I appreciate them. I've really picked up a lot on fishing styles - one thing I've noticed is that thoughts and lure choices vary so much based on opinion...Isn't there some kind of Cyrstal ball I can look into :)

Some of it is based on opinion.....a lot of it has to do with the specie one is pursuing. If you find that crystal ball Let me know.......LOL
