I was lucky enough to spend a day with Alphahawk down at Pickwick last Thursday. You know how when the fish are biting until you get there....well that is what we kind of found. We struggled, but fished hard and caught some fish! Alpha caught a few sauger right at that 14" mark, but we didn't have an official measuring device, so they were released. We had a few nice white bass up on the lake side, a few smallies, a few drum, and a few bluegill were also caught lakeside. Alpha also got a nice little channel about 2-3 pounds up there. We tried the tailrace for striper and whites, but there was no bait present, therefore, no gamefish either.

Alpha did pull in a beautiful crappie that I am sure was all of 15 inches or bigger. It was a beauty!

We caught several small yellow stripe in the lock and I had a few largemouth.

We did get fish, but not much of any size. And we worked hard for the fish we caught.

All fish were caught on trout magnets with 2lb test. I am not hooked on 2lb test line, i was very surprised on how strong it really is! I caught 2 drum in the 3-4 pound range and had no issues at all getting them in! And the fish are so much more fun to catch, even the small ones with the 7 foot UL rod!

I did have a blast fishing alongside Alphahawk! He is a great fishing partner and I learned lots and am looking forward to our next outing! Another great fishing partner and friend made through this site! I am very thankful for this site and the people I have met through it. Thanks TK!

I'm glad you caught SOME fish. It's tough going out and catching nothing. But as we all have experienced, sometimes it's just plain old tough fishing and you CAN'T MAK'EM BITE.

I'd like to get out with you two sometime after the Dr and Sergeant Susi says I can go.

I expect that to happen this week when I visit the surgeon who did the work.

Looks like a great outing. And as always with your photography skills memory will last forever. We should try and wade soon or do a trip up in the skinny water of the Stones. Putting new edition out this week and then going to take a day to fish.

Great day out fishing with Mike. For those wanting some great pics of your fishing trip...his photo skills are without question. His shots are the kind you want to have prints made of and get framed. The best part of it is he is a great guy to fish with. It was not the best day at Pickwick. Hoping to get out with you again soon and next time get into more fish.

Regards

Mike, not only does Susi know I call her that, she takes great pride in it. (She actually prefers Drill Sergeant Susi, says it sounds tougher).

Man, one of these days I'll have to invite you up to Clarksville for a trip out with me just so I can pick your brain on taking pics like that!
