Anybody on the board do any fishing above walter hill dam? Any spotted bass or smallmouth up there? Thinking about taking the canoe over there tomorrow.

Locals/oldtimers call it the millpond and yes it is fished with some nice results.

The Fish were on the rocky banks more than the wood last week. Caught SOme Nice Crappie on the deepest structure you can find. This is a great little fishery. 10/19 -10/23 I got to fish it daily and we had a great time on soft plastics but if the leaves are not to bad fish your suspended jerk baits and Buzz baits early. You may be rewarded with a true trophy Bass. The 21st a client and I had 39 bass mostly Lm and Ky with one smallie. No Giants biggest fish 3 pounds.

I live about 2 minutes away from the dam and used to fish it regularly. Now just on occasion when I get time. I have had more luck over the past several years fishing below the dam.

If you can get there when there isnt 250 Mexicans swimming and throwing casting nets keeping undersized crappie and bass, it can be fun to fish. I have stood below the dam with my flyrod casting into the riprap and had fun catching bass and crappie. I hear this time of year nice sized smallmouth can be caught doing this, I've only done it in warmer months. Hey... this time of year you don't have to worry about the water being full of people swimming!

I don't live to far from the Walterhill Dam, and every time I go there, I think I'm fishing in the Dead Sea. There is a ton of good cover, but the fishing has always been terrible.

I live about 10 minutes from it and have yet to fish there. Always too many people. Might take the bass tender and try to fish above it one day though.

Yea, next time you see it call TWRA and report it so you can get a laugh at how your fishing license money is wasted. Part of the fee is supposed to be for enforcing regulations. I've called twice while down there witnessing it, they never show up.

I went Sunday morning and stay out till about 2 or so. It started slow and took us a while to figure it out. Caught a few off of the rock ledges using a drop shot and also with a tube on on a 1/8th jighead. Got bored so I tied on the xrap and proceeded to catch about 15 largemouth and a couple smallies over the next couple of hrs.
I fish below the damn some during the spring. I have called the twra a couple of times on.people for throwing cast nets and taking fish.

Tried out Walter Hill Dam today on lunch break. Caught some nice largemouth on pumpkinseed colored brush hog unweighted. One of those days where you don't know you have one on till your line eases to the left or right slowly. I think I'm going to check this area out in the OleTown I think there's a ramp?

There is a ramp at the very end of the parking lot. Only access to top of the dam.
