Hey all, been lurking around for a year or so, but haven't posted too much. I grew up catching cats on Kentucky Lake by boat, but I've been in the middle TN area (Murfreesboro) for about 5 years now and I'm a little out of my element. I've ventured down to Caney Fork a time or two with my spin cast and enjoyed catching a few trout at the advice of Travis C. and a few others last year, but I'd really like to diversify or maybe improve.

I don't have any type of boat for now, so I'm a bank and wader guy. Any tips for someone looking to learn more on trout, bass, cats, well...anything in the area? If there's a usual recommended guide that I could spend a few trips with, paying for some help isn't a big deal, but I figure I'd only learn boat with them and that won't do me much good from the banks. :)

Thinking hard about heading to Stewart Creek in a bit here to see if I can land some fish off the docks, but I really have no idea on bait/hooks/weights/styles etc. for anything but cats, so I usually don't have much luck. I've also got some fly fishing gear in the garage just begging me to pick it up and learn...

Not expecting anyone to spill their fishing hole info, just wondering if I can get a tip or two or maybe some referrals so I can enjoy fishing again.

Thanks all!

Travis C.

I am not as familiar with that area down around the boro but if you wanted to learn from a good guide that fishes without a boat pm creeksmallie on here.

That's Mike Dial and he's one heck of a small waters guide especially by foot.
