Well, just got home from Bass Pro and set up my new 7' UL with 2lb line. We will see how it goes on Percy on Saturday for the crappie!

That stuff is literally HAIR thin! Ridiculous if you ask me! HA, but it is on my reel!

Just wait until you fish under a bridge and have to pull your trout magnet free because the line is hung in a spider web.

HAHA! I can no longer use the phrase "AH MAN I JUST BROKE OFF ON A GIANT!" It will be "AH MAN, I JUST BROKE OFF ON A dink:D"

If you have a smooth drag, line strength won't hinder you as much as you think. The longer rod will help, too, since it'll absorb shock. I use 2 lb tippet exclusively on midge patterns when I'm flyfishing the caney and have landed numerous trout, biggest around 3-4 lbs, and very seldom do I break off. My biggest fish on 2 lb was a 6 lb striper below old hick. I was targeting skippies and whites with a UL rod and a 2" swimming minnow on a 1/16 oz jighead when the striper hit. 10 minutes later, I released the fish and grabbed a rod set up for stripers, but couldn't get another hit, even from the skippies. I went back to the UL, and was back into the fish.

Since you have the wispy rod and plan to use it for crappie on priest, I predict a school of hybrids finds you. Murphy's law is always around, especially for fishermen, lol.

Your going to find out Thursday...LOL. As txnative mentioned if you have drag set right it is not a big deal. The only fish that is almost impossible to get in on the 2# test...for me anyway......is the Large Mouth. Now you start having 10 pound or even smaller Stripers hit and all bets are off with that. But even a 3 or 4 pound Large Mouth seems to me to be the diesel truck of fish....just so much torque.....LOL.

MNfisher,

You're going to have plenty of brush piles to test that two pound test on.

LOL, I'll throw in an extra rod with 6# test......with extra spools of 8# test line!

Agelesssone,

I will have a 4 lb test and a 6 lb test rig with, and might bring the fire line rod....just in the event we come across some of those awesome Percy hybrids!
