My favorite time of the year is fast approaching!!!! Got out a couple hours this past Saturday afternoon, more or less to see what the water temps were and of course try to catch some slabs. Hit some spots in Bledsoe area ranging from brush in 8 to 10 feet of water to shooting some docks in the same depth of water. Shooting the docks produced good numbers of 8 - 9 inch fish with no keepers, even counted down and caught short fish. Went to submerged brush in the same depth range and also caught some short fish casting jigs, then I started to tight line maribou jigs working very slow and began to hook up with some better fish. Biggest was 12.5" and wound up with 6 keepers before I had to quit. Water temp was 80 to 82, water was somewhat stained. best producers were red head 1/8 oz with chart body and white tail with sparkles, also fished red 1/8 jig with Mo Glo 2" slab slayer. It was nice to be on the water without 20 jet skis buzzing around out there. It only gets better from here till March :)
Good luck to all! Ray
