Anyone trout fished over in the Normandy Dam / Duck River / Cortner area? I live the same distance from it as from the Caney so am tempted to try it out.

The trout are done for at Normandy until the next stocking in November. A lot of folks will tell you they hold over but that is not so.....oh there might be an occasional one in a deep hole....very rare...the water is way too warm there now.

Agreed. I've caught some nice sized rainbows below that dam in the Spring but especially considering as hot and dry as our summer was, you won't find any trout below Normandy.

Personally, I would never choose the Duck over the Caney if both are same distance.

My situation is very similiar though. Its 85 miles to the Caney and 85 miles to the Obey for me. I'd fish the Obey more but its an extra 1.5 hrs in the car that I can be fishing round trip. The Obey/Elk are the only two midstate rivers that i'd consider along side the Caney "for trout" and Caney would win out for me every time. That's just my preference though.
