Fished Blue Cat Lake today. Covered the whole lake.....man it was hot. The fishing was good. Caught all the Gills I wanted in the 6 to 7 inch range. Some Gills are on bed....and many I caught are spawned out. On the upper end of the lake could not keep the Catfish off my line. Caught 8 of the smaller ones and two of the bigger fish. It just takes way too long to land those things on 2# test line....lots of fun though. So moved back up towards the dam and got into a nice Large Mouth. Caught several bass at the 11 and 12 inch mark. Got a good workout in the kayak and had a lot of fun.

I've not had any luck with the TM Crawfish. How are you fishing them?

I think what you are referring to is the "Trout Slayer". I use it only seldom. Having said that it is a good lure. It really shines in creeks and rivers. It is a very good Small Mouth bait in streams....also Black Perch tear it up. What little I have fished it I just twitch it along on the creek or river bottom. I should use it more but I prefer the Trout Magnet. I only use 2# test line with it also...but it is probably heavy enough to get away with using 4# test.

Looks like a great outing. I haven't been down there since this past spring, and the wind can get brutal out there.

Yeah no place to get out of the wind..or the Sun...LOL. That lake is OK for Spring and early Summer fishing. I think the Hybrid population has been greatly reduced in there. Plus they have a big problem that they will have to deal with sooner or later. Both Shell Cracker and Blue Cat are full of stunted Crappie.....by the thousands. Don't know how that is going to turn out. I am going to put the kayak in come December to see if I can get any with some weight to them. I caught hundreds this past Spring but all of them were very skinny.

The only crappie I've caught out of there were all small 8-10", nothing over 10".
