Spent almost six hours on Blue Cat Lake at Williamsport today. It was a scorcher! Found the Gills though. Some folks were leaving when I got there and told me nothing was biting. I put the kayak in anyway hoping I might do better. For forty-five minutes I fished deep water and did not get a hit. Started paddling back to the ramp and decided to throw to the bank...nice 7 inch Gill....right on the bank. The Gills were right on the bank in about one to two feet of water. But the pattern they were on was they were holding in one to two feet of water that was just a tail kick to four to 10 feet of water. They were not just in any shallow water but the water had to be extremely close to deep water. I paddled the banks that dropped off sharply and they were stacked up all along them. I could see them out in front of me. Well once I found them the fun was on. Most of the Gills were between 7 and 8 inches...also caught a number of 10 inch or so Large Mouth. The Gills were really chunky...nice fat fish. Great day...been a while since I have been on them like today. All fish were caught using Bison colored Trout Magnet on a River Runner UL rod using 2# test line. Don't know how many I caught but it was a bunch. Can take the heat as long as the action is fast and furious...but if not catching when it is 90 degrees it seems like it is 110 out there....LOL.

Sounds like a good trip.

I haven't hit the water in a while. May need to get out somewhere.

Way to go, Alpha! Some nice gills there, especially in this heat.

Thanks. I am sure you have heard the saying "Never leave the place where you are catching fish". Well I didn't exactly do that but went back yesterday to Williamsport and decided to fish the Shell Cracker Lake...big mistake. Blue Cat Lake had reasonably semi clear water. Shell Cracker Lake looked like split green pea soup. I should have just went right back to Blue Cat. But I put the kayak in anyway....did not catch the first fish. I don't really like fishing those small lakes that have that pea soup water...have never had any success when the water is like that. Oh well.....should trust my instincts more.

It was a great trip from what I have been having. It is tough out there now Travis...at least in my fishing spots. Trying to decide where to go today.

I had another fun day at the creek. Me and the girls caught lots of bream, redeye, a largemouth, smallies and big fish was a 15" smallie.

For me it will be the creek mostly or Caney until it cools down.

I wish I had a good creek close by that I could get to.

Mistakes were made when trying to attach some accessories to my kayak... Anyone know someone who can evaluate and repair?

Thats a tough one. I will ask around but I don't know if Mid TN has a shop that does that. I have attached a few things and am going to do more but believe me that is on my mind.....putting a hole somewhere and then realizing it didn't need to be there. Hopefully someone else may know and maybe you should create a separate post asking the question....you will get more replies.
