Fished Saturday morning early and caught 7 keeper crappie, one really nice slab. Water temp 75.
Went back out at 7:00 PM and the stripe were in the jumps. Water temp 84.
I'm no Spring chicken anymore and i can't take this heat but my 3 boys are asking me every day "if we are going fishing." As long as they keep asking we'll keep going-any one know where i can get a Bimini for my fish and ski for under $150?

Nice crappie and I think it's great that you're getting your boys into it...they'll be hooked for life.

Titansfan 2104-
This is on Ft. Loudon-this time of year the crappie are staged in 16-23 ft of water next to a channel or creek drop off. It really doesn't matter what body of water you are on. A buddy fished out of Shutes last week and caught slabs every morning except Thursday on this same type of water.

I'm assuming your talking of fishing cover in 16-23 fow?? No just ledge fishing right??

I don't know if that was what he was saying but I think so. If you go back and look at some of my older posts where I have caught Crappie at Nickajack...and it has been a lot....all of those fish were caught on a ledge with no cover. The Crappie are still there. The last time I was down.....about a month ago...I checked my spot to see if they were still holding there...yep still there. I caught 4 in a mater of about 10 minutes....those 4 were just like what I caught there from October through May....14 and 15 inches long. The ledge drops off to 23 feet deep. But in my opinion the wall of the ledge is cover. But in that location there is no traditional cover that I think you are talking about.
