Dynamite for fishing?

When all else fails, every tactic I know has been performed to catch fish...can I use dynamite to catch them?

I have trolled cranks, drifted live bait, cast inline spinners for white bass on Old Hickory. Found several schools on Saturday morning. Fish busting everywhere...caught one blue gill in 30' of water...what the heck?

Is it my speed of trolling? Not using the magic lure? Or do i just need to use M80's?

Going jug fishing Sunday morning, we will see how that goes

M80's aren't powerful enough. You should at the minimum use "flash bangs".

I've never seen a situation where white bass were busting on top and wouldn't hit a lure cast to them. That would be frustrating.

My best guess is that you need to take a close look at the baitfish and make sure you're throwing a lure that is close in size.

Sunday morning .....9 catfish on cutbait jug fishing, on flats in Drakes Creek. 6-8 ft of water. Until batteries went dead :(.

Will try looking into the bait size. I have heard speed and distance your lines are behind the boat make a big differnce, anyone know of a "trick" to know how deep you are, or how far back baits should be?

Thanks for helping, this is frustrating... willing to take someone out on boat if they have some insights on how this type of fishing is done. Gas is on me :D.

Did you try casting small swimbaits or small topwaters at the busting fish? That always seems to work!

I usually figure one sweep of the rod (spinning reel) 6'6" rod, is approximately 15 ft for me. I am 6 ft tall. 5-6 sweeps of the rod is usually where I fish. I fish about 150-180 ft behind the boat. I like to use Bandit 300's to get down to about 14 ft and Bandit 200's to go to 10 ft. I'll use a Shad Rap J-9 that get's down to 16 ft. All of these depths are at a trolling speed of 2.0-2.1 MPH. I prefer to troll at 1.5-1.8 MPH so to do that, I use my electric trolling motor. My big gas motor won't go less than 2.2 MPH. Color will make a difference but shad works as good as any. But some days they want FireTiger and some days they want bone white. That's whay I probably have forty bandits in all different colors.

I'll troll two rods deep 14-16 ft and two rods shallower 8-10' and then one over the back of the middle of the boat with a lipless bait like a rattletrap that fishes the top four feet. This keeps me covering a lot of water and a lot of different depths. I fish two rodholders to a side, a 6'6" rod on the rearward rodholder and a 10 or 11' rod on the forward rodholder. Keeps the lures separated so they don't tangle.
If you want to go out sometimes, let me know. I'm retired and am usually able to go, about whenever the mood strikes me.

Thanks for the info! It seems I may be trolling to fast and certainly not far enough behind the boat. I may be able to get out this Saturday morning, and that would be great to go! What part of the lake do you like?

Took the daughter fishing yesturday. Rare sighting...a teenager calm and relaxed, lol. Two crappies to boot, great time had by all!!

I prefer to troll at 2.6 to 3.0- i catch far less dinks (yellow and small stripes)-Bandit 200 and 300's and Radar 10,13's. On stained lakes rootbeer, shad colored crankbaits-also, fire tiger deep wee r's are excellent. Over 12 feet for crappie, under 10 ft for larger stripe and LM bass.

That's great to see. Thanks to you for spending the time to take her and for her to make time to go with you. It means alot nowadays. I have 2 girls that are 2 and 4 years old. They love going out on the boat with me and i pray that it continues.
