Got out a couple hours last night to see if I could find some crappie for the freezer. Its been about a month since I've been on OH so I went to my notes from last year and was pleasantly suprised, they were in the spots I fished last year this time. I put 8 nice fish in the well. I was tightlining a 1/16 oz tube (1.5") in downed trees just off the main channel, seamed like the prefered depth was around 8 feet deep and the fish were about 2 feet off the bottom. The color of choice was blue/black/chart.
I read an article a couple years ago about keeping notes when you go fishing and would recommend doing so to all who love the sport. I use a note pad/calender, there is enough writting room to put at least a couple pages of notes, the days change from year to year but like last night I had a notes from 2 years ago in the last week of May, the color was different but they were it the same spot, finding them is 2/3rds the battle. If your retired and can fish everyday (like some on here...Alphahawk) you can keep up with where the fish are. I on the other hand get out in streaks, a month of no fishing use to leave me spending more time on the water trying to find where the "Wyllie little wascales are". The notes will help you get the most out of the little time you have, in fact I can't wait for 4th of July weekend, its been my best outing for crappie on OH the last 2 years in a row!!!! Go figure
Happy fishing to all
