Took the kayak down to Laurel Hill today. Received some new Trout Magnet jig heads so decided to go field test them. Caught over 40 big Gills. Caught 10 females that all were at the pound mark and the rest were males about 3/4 of a pound. Did not bring any fish home today. Great time with the light line. The conditions were good for kayaking...hardly any wind at all...so easy to keep boat in place. All the fish were caught in about 8 feet of water. Was going to hang around and wait for the Gills to come up shallow about an hour before dark and you can catch one just about every cast...but the mosquitos were eating me alive. First time I noticed them this year. Pics don't really show just how big these Gills are.

:) 40 wow

I just received the trout magnet kit yesterday, and I am going to try them tomorrow. I bit using a life bait much easier than them.

Did you use a weight? Or bobber?

I use both at times and then sometimes just the Trout Magnet. Make sure that if you are using the Trout Magnet to use 2 pound test line. Here is the link to the instructional videos you should watch. http://troutmagnet.com/video-new.php
The videos are really helpful. That is how I learned to fish it.

Thanks for the tips.

What is would be the difference between using the 4lb or 2 lb? I've got a 4lb fluorocarbon and I am using it as a leader. I heard in one of their video that I should use the 4lb fluorocarbon.
Things with me might be different since I am casting from the shore not a boat.
