If you go, tell the folks at Foggy Bottom Canoe that I said hi. They are good people.

Anyone know if that ramp is too steep to put in a john boat? I've never been there

Stickingar, I'm not sure that the Harpeth is friendly to jon boats. In my many years floating the harpeth I've seen one. They put in at the Narrows. A very precarious entry for anyone, much less a hundred pound boat. If you want to try the harpeth in a motorized boat there is a ramp where the Harpeth and Cumberland meet. That would be the only place that I could suggest. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I saw a johnboat plus motor running up the Harpeth between I-40 and Hidden Lake State Park on Saturday. Granted, the river was high. It's pretty channelized in that area as well, so there might not be any problems.
I think a canoe and a couple paddles will suit you just fine on the Harpeth, any how.

I've not fished the narrows, we float it in inner tubes on lazy summer days. That said it should have ample fish. The only thing to be aware of is it is a well traveled section, a favorite of the booze cruises.

Nothing better than the Annual Bikini Hatch!
