Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone had been to cross creeks since they opened it back up this year, and if so how the fishing was. I don't own a boat so I'm stuck bank fishing and have found this place to be one of the more productive spots in my area (I'm out of Clarksville). Thanks ahead of time guys!

I'm in the same boat as you (pun intended ;))...no boat yet and out of Clarksville, and looking for some info on local places. I was thinking about trying here or maybe Dyers Creek.

Well I went down to cross creek on yesterday and had mild success. We caught 4 bass overall, with 2 being in the keeper range. The biggest problem we ran into was that we were not catching them out of the lakes at cross creeks but rather out of the Cumberland river. One keeper came off of a white and blue spinnerbait with (with trail hook) and the rest came off of a green diver. Both of the larger fish were in the 2.5-3 lb range. Everyone we talked to that day said they were having problems getting into the bass but the crappie fishermen seemed to be doing reasonably well from the banks, especially along the bridges and earthen dams in the lakes. Our success came from walking down the boulder strewn banks of the Cumberland and casting downstream. All of our fish were caught from 3-10 feet from the bank.

No pics?

I'm going to try Lake Kyle on Ft Campbell Monday; I drove out there today to make sure I can find it and it looks like a really decent lake. No idea if it holds any nice fish or not though, I hope to find out tomorrow :o
I wonder how many people fish the Cross creek area on weekdays; I'm not big into crowds and fishing elbow to elbow.

Edit/update: Lake Kyle was a bust...nothing but dinks. And once the sun came up, I could see that the lake is pretty shallow, at least all along the shoreline. Not sure if the lake gets a lot of pressure and is fished out, if the bluebird skies did me in, or I've gotten rusty.
