So the hubby and I moved here 2 years ago and havent gone fishing since. I caught the bug and am dying to fish. Problem is I cant seem to find very many places for bank fishing.
I live by the Columbia Riverwalk and figured that would be a good start, spent a few hours fishing off a cliff, caught more trees then I did fish. I want to get to a bank where I can be closer to the water. ;)
Dont have a boat. One day but not for now. I know Williamsport seems to be the place to go but with 3 of us fishing it can get pricey and since we have a baby on the way we are looking for something free ;)
Dont mind a walk but cant do a hike again Im preggo.
Someone mentioned Iron Bridge so we might check that out tomorrow but Id like to see if anyone knows of any other good places to put our poles in the water!!
Thanks for the help!!

Do you know where Riverside Dam is on the Duck River? It's very close to downtown Columbia. They just stocked a bunch of trout there yesterday - you should be able to catch a ton there right now and the access isn't too difficult. Be sure you have a trout permit in addition to your regular fishing license.
Here's a map for you:

I live in Columbia and good bank fishing can be hard to come by. bd told you of a good spot..but be careful below that dam. On down from the dam is decent bank access..close to the TVA boat ramp. You can have some fun there but don't expect too many decent size fish to come from that spot. There is a place off of Bear creek Pike that has some decent fishing. It is on private land but the owner has a sign there..or used to be anyway but check at the gate for the sign...that allows you to go in. He just wants everyone to stay parked outside the gate. Coming from Columbia you would turn right at the McDonald's on Nashville highway. Go out the Bear Creek Pike about a half mile and the gate will be on your right. The gate is right across from Cheairs Circle. It is a creek that runs into the Duck River and good fish come up in that creek. Now it is not a hike to get there but it is a bit of a walk. Good luck.

Thanks you two! I will have to check out the bear creek location soon! The dam is right by my house, unfortunately its so muddy I kept slipping and as of right now I have to be more careful. We found a small spot on the riverwalk that is decent, its off the beaten path a bit we caught a few then the storms hit. Hope better weather comes soon!
