Has anyone ever fished this lake? It's stocked and managed by TWRA; 5 bucks to fish there but supposedly has really good fishing this time of year especially for good size bass and crappie. A buddy of mine fished it Saturday and caught several keeper crappie and he stayed on the pier the whole day. He said there's plenty of wadeable water close enough to the deep water so that I can get walk around and fish a lot of water since we don't have a boat. We're going this coming saturday. Just wondering if anyone has fished it recently.

I fish it a couple of times a year. Now I am mainly there to catch big Bluegill....would drop by the lake on way home from catching stocker Trout at Normandy Dam. I can't speak for Crappie or Bass out of that lake. It does have nice Bluegill and really nice Shell Crackers...a little too early for both of those from the bank. If you don't mind walking try down by the dam. You used to could drive down there but they stopped that. As for wading I am sure you can do it now as the water will be clear there...but once water temps hit that 70 degree mark TWRA will throw the fertilizer to it and with the plankton boom you would not be able to see well enough to wade.

I fish the lake about 2 weeks ago. Very windy. Didn't have any luck on crappie either. For those of you that have never fished it before, it is a trolling motor only lake. No motor. Thanks and good luck to you.

Are motors prohibited on the boat or just prohibited from being operated?

That's a tricky one. I'd call TWRA and I'm sure they can give you an answer.

Sambolie, the motors can be on the boat, just not operated.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Motors are allowed on boats but can't be used.
