Stones River 1/10/12
We had a great day catching crappie above the furthest upstream ramp on the Stones. John stopped in Smithville on his way in and picked up 3 dz. Large tuffys from Bucky and Mapco. Fished under a bobber (5 ft down over the deepest cover you can find) we had great action all day. The smaller crappie and bluegill would pick at the minnow then the bobber would go down and it was usually a keeper. The larger minnow was the ticket. John threw the Xrap also over deep cover and produced several while I used the crappie magnet head with chartreuse plastics. We had several small bass the size of the smallie pictured. 40 plus crappie caught 25 keeper size (keeping 18 for dinner), some decent gills, 4 largemouth and 2 smallies. Another great outing on the river, this pattern will continue thru the winter. If you want to learn about a great piece of water full of fish give me a shout.
