Kayak Bass Fishing – Challenge Series

I know some people like to just fish for fun, and some are hardcore tournament anglers. This challenge gives the weekend or occasional angler a chance to compete with the hardcore crew, and win some great prizes. You can fish whenever, or wherever you want as long as it’s lawful, and in the United States. You don’t have to travel you can fish your own pond, friends pond, lake, or river. You must use only artificial lures though. All you have to do is follow the link below and sign up for an individual month, or if you plan on fishing in multiple challenges sign up for the year. You just never know when you will catch that lunker that will win you a brand new Wilderness Systems Kayak, just make sure you have the current identifier on you, digital camera, and measuring device and be in a kayak. At the end of the month the pictures are judged making sure everything is legal, and the prizes are awarded.

The Bass Pass enters you into all challenges for the year, and other special drawings throughout the year.

Each angler will accumulate points throughout the year placing in the challenges for a chance at angler of the year. This year’s angler of the year is getting a trip to Panama (the country), money, and vouchers from sponsors for equipment.

2012 Angler of the year will be earning a trip to Angler’s Inn in Mexico on Lake El Salto, and more will be added throughout the year.

Well the March Challenge has come to an end, and April has begun.

It took a 25.75" Largemouth Bass from Texas to win the March Challenge, and the top 5 fish were all over 25". Just to place in the top 20 it took a black bass of at least 21.5". I didn't do well enought to place in March and lost one last week that would have placed me in the top 17.

For the April Challenge this will be the longest black bass species, but something that will help us here in Tennessee is the Smallmouth multiplier that is in effect this month. You get to multiply your smallmouth by 1.15 so a 22" smallmouth would equal 25.3". I will be trying to make it to Dale Hollow, and the South Holston River as much as possible this month to so the guys and gals over at Kayak Bass Fishing that Tennessee has some great fish, and can compete with the rest of the country.

It's only $45 to compete per month or $150 for the entire series

Here are the results from March

There were 112 people who competed

1st place - $1000 Wilderness Systems Kayak of choice
2nd place - Lowrance Elite 5 DSI
3rd place - $450 in Global Net Outdoors
5th place - $200 Yak Attack
6th place - $150 Hook 1

Thanks for the info. I don't target Black Bass except for two weeks in the Fall but might give this a try....sounds like fun. Jeremy...is there a brick and mortar store for Hook 1? My nephew thinks maybe it is an internet only store.

Brick and Mortor Store is located at
699 West Main Street
Hendersonville, TN 37075
Suite 206

It's in the same complex as Wired Coffee. If you are facing the building there are two double doors on the left side of Wired Coffee. You will go thru those double doors past an Allstate Insurance Office and a few other offices. The Hook1 store is the last office on the right. Chris (one of the owners) is usually there all the time, but it is best to call before hand (615) 585-2455. The store is small with only 6-8 kayaks and all kinds of accessories. THey have a warehouse where other boats are stocked. I beleive they are in the process of looking for a larger place where they can have a pool where people can try out the kayaks.

If you would like me to meet you over there sometime just let me know.
