All pics are on my site. David Honey (pictured) and I got to the lake at 7;00am and fished 4 hours. Air temp was 31 degrees and was snowing and sleeting when we reached the lake. The wind was out of the North and we had a hard time staying on our spots. We decided to only throw tuffy's again today and as it wasjust like last week a good choice. We caught several others that are not pictured. We used 6lb Test Clear Blue Sufix Pro Mix Mono www.sufix.com (http://www.sufix.com/) and #6 VMC Circle Hooks www.vmchooks.com (http://www.vmchooks.com/) a small split shot and the tuffy. This is a perfect set up for throwing these minnows. The Sufix Pro Mix comes off a spinning reel like a dream and the VMC hooks are needle sharp. Pick some up you will be overly pleased---I have been. David is a very good friend and he and have been blessed to put some good ones in the boat together over the years-and today was no exception. I have 2 more days this week "If" we can manage the weather. How are you fishing the minnows? Jigging? And where do you hook them?

I know this method also works at Dale Hollow with Shiners.

I have not tried it on JPP, but am going to try it this winter off the mid-lake, deep rocky points.

I have caught a lot of smallmouth from Hobson Pike bridge down to Anderson road area in the past....just not in the winter.

We used 6lb Test Clear Blue Sufix Pro Mix Mono www.sufix.com (http://www.sufix.com/) and #6 VMC Circle Hooks www.vmchooks.com (http://www.vmchooks.com/) a small split shot and the tuffy. If they dont hit it on the fall just let it fall to the bottom....lift up and move it a little bit at a time......Sometimes you wont get your bail closed before they hit it other times you have to give it a little tlc...the fish for th past couple weeks have been tight on channel wings ....7'6 med light rod.........Rick

Thanks rick. Me and a buddy went there the week before Thanksgiving to fish for crappie. My friend caught a fat 16" sm on a tuffy under a float. That's why I was wondering cause we fished the tuffys every which way and accidentally caught 1 sm and 0 crappie.

Rick, I'm with you on the freezing hands. If someone could invent something to keep hands warm in the winter and not affect fishing they could make a fortune.

Hey guys, I got a little trick i use when i'm fishing during the winter to keep my hands warm. Slide a HotHand packet in the cuff of your jacket to where it sits right on your wrist where the blood vessels lead to the palm of your hand. It helps warm the blood before it reaches your fingers. If they wont stay in place i use a couple of sweatbands on my wrists and just slide them under there. Makes a big difference!

Nice idea... Here is another trick you can use with them. If you head out for a few hours then decide to call it a day and head for the house. Don't throw away that open hand warmer it has a lot more life in it. Put the open warmer in a small freezer bag and seal it up. A chemical reaction with air causes the heat so once its in the bag and closed they will stop after the air in the bag is gone. Open it back up next time you want to use it and it will heat back up.

I've used this same method with both tuffies and crickets.

When it gets really hot in June, July, August, I've used this method at Marinas on Center Hills. Try it with a cricket, threading one onto a long shank hook, attaching a split shot, and letting sink to the bottom and slowly reeling it back in. I've had good catches of hand-size bluegills and the occasional channel cat doing this when they move down deep.
