Rough day on the water, had to use a 5' Wal-Mart cast net for gathering bait. After 2 hours of throwing we only had 5 shad and decided to fish. Wind, current, and stained water seemed to be working against us today, but we managed one cat. How did anybody else do.

Didn't fish old hickory but I fished Normandy and did no good and neither did anyone else I talked to. Saw one guy with a decent stringer of slab crappie. My buddy fished woods yesterday and only caught 5 keeper crappie and about 10 white bass that we just got done eating. I'm wanting to fish oh, the river, or the steam plant this week. Anybody doing any good at these places?

Nice Kitty.

nice healthy catfish!

Looking forward to hitting OH and Gallatin Steam plant when it gets colder. Still a little bit early for me...

I flyfished for a little while below the dam today, mostly just to get out of the house. It was slow and tough to cast in the wind. I hooked one fish that felt pretty heavy but he came loose before I could work him out of the current.

I figured somebody was catching, or at least hooking some fish. I believe we could have had better luck on stripers fishing higher in the water column. We stuck with what had been working for us, fairly deep and tight to bottom. Increased current and higher water probably pulled them up a bit. Just thinking out loud.

I was definitely fishing higher in the water column. I can't get down very deep fishing from shore because there's not enough back cast room to get a heavy sinking line out there very far. I guess if I had a spey rod with a big sink tip, that would be a great place to use it, but fly fishing is expensive enough without getting into the spey stuff.

That one fish I hooked was probably about 4 to 6 feet down and within 10 feet of the bank.
