Got at Pickwick at about 9:45 this morning. Caught a fish of some sort on almost every cast. Most of them were Bluegill....most about the size in the pic. Caught a lot of Sandies also. All the fish I caught at Pickwick were regurgitating minnows. These Bluegill..while not the biggest you catch down there were stuffed full and fat. Hope after the water goes down the Large Mouth will be on the flats down there feeding. Minnows were in there by the 10's of thousands. They started closing the gates this afternoon and I decided to leave. On my way home I stopped off at Laurel Hill Lake and caught 5 nice Gills. I was only there about 30 minutes and then on home. The pic of the big Gill is from Laurel Hill. That is a normal size Gill for there. All fish were caught on a 1/64 Trout Magnet using 3# test line with a leader.

Nice fat Bluegill. Nothing like light tackle and fish that think they are whales.

Nice Gills.
When I got home from running errands today noticed a boxed leaned up against my door.
As soon as I can sell some clutter in my garage, I intend on picking me up one of those 7' Fenwick River Runner rods. They look perfect for what I want to do. The reel seat actually looks comfortable as well.

If those things got to 5 pounds I don't think you could land them....LOL. Laurel Hill is full of Bluegill that size. But this year I got what I consider 10 trophy's out of there. Caught 10 that went from 1.5 pounds to 1.75 pounds. Trouble is this time of year they are going deep and I can't get to them from the bank much. I just moved and have a room for a kayak....but my 900 dollar washing machine quit 3 days before I moved. Now it is looking like middle of October until I get it. Sucks being on a fixed income...but....I am truly a fish bum. It is my life and it is what I will do until I no longer can do it. I feel that I am blessed to be able to do this. I fish 5 to 6 days a week...and would fish 7 but the weekend crowds get to me. Maybe it will be different when I get the kayak. I only live about 1 mile from a put in in downtown Columbia on the Duck. Plan on getting my share of Smallies out of there....along with Black Perch and what ever else I can discover.

Best rod I have ever fished for UL. It is tough and I like the titanium guide frames. I bought my son the Light 7' 2" model. He really likes it.

Which size did you get? I was leaning towards 7'2" L because the UL might not be enought backbone to put a hook through a trout's mouth.

Travis I can get them for 99 bucks out the door. But I have to tell my guy before October 15 as his shop closes for the winter. It sells for 129$ at Bass Pro...plus you have to pay for delivery...they do not stock them in Nashville....and tax. It is quite a nice savings. If you want one let me know and I can give it to my son to get it to you when the guys order comes in. He does not stock much of anything but will order me what ever I want. No discounts on Loomis or Shimano though.

I would get the 7' 2" Light. My son loves it and I have fished with it..I am going to get me a light one also. It has Lifetime Limited Warranty. You send it back and if it was manufacturer default they send you a new one. If you broke it in a door you pay 40 bucks and they send you a new one....but double check that at the Fenwick website.

Let me see what I am able to come up with. That is a small time window for the funds as they will be "off the books" so to speak.
I will let you know by the 1st if it's possible.
Thanks for the offer I appreciate that.
