So the kayak responses to my original post have got me thinking about getting a kayak. Anyone have or have an opinion about the nuCanoe?

Tim's Flies and Lies in Lynchburg will do an on-the-water demo if you're interested. No affiliation, etc., etc.

Being a large man...very large...I looked at them...even got to get in one that a guy I fished with over at Normandy had. It is not really a kayak and it is big....extremely stable. My concerns were putting one on top of a car by myself and also it catches a lot of wind if it is blowing a bit. It does not weigh anymore than the Jackson Coosa..as a mater of fact it weighs a little less. While it is comfortable with the optional seating I do not think it can compare to the seating in the Coosa Elite. Plus I wanted a kayak that I could just step out of...you can do that in the NuCanoe depending on the seat but it is still not as good a setup as the Coosa..IMHO. It just does not have the fishing features the Coosa has...even though there are several accessories you can buy for it. I will tell you this...it is very well made and you will not find a kayak that has better stability than the NuCanoe.

I've got a buddy that has a Nucanoe he seems to like it, but he is probably 250+, and well over 6'3" or 6'4". He often takes his daughter out, and this craft gives them enough room for them both. It would be more suited to use oars to move yourself around because of it's width. I also wouldn't want to paddle it upstream very far, but for downstream floats it wouldn't be bad. A few months ago my wife and I had dinner Blake (President of Nucanoe) and his wife Deanna they are good people, we had a great dinner, and talked about everything. He takes criticism well, and they are widly used in streams and rivers up in the Northwest where they are from. Nucanoe is a good product, from a great company. It's just not my cup of tea, as I prefer more kayak style and a small craft that's easier to paddle, and manuver.
