After a break from bass to chase trout, I am getting back after them. Only problem is haven't been on the lake in a while.

I can check the temps online but are they still in summer patterns or moving into fall patterns on Old Hickory. Will be expecting to work main lake points and pockets or flats near main channel unless someone points me another way.

I'll be going at night as is the case most the time.

Thanks for any info...

After a break to welcome the arrival of my new twin grand daughters I have not been out recently either. I was out 2 Sunday's ago in the early AM, from 0500 to 1100 and was catching decent bass on shakey head/8" worm rigs in main river ledges and points. Water temp was 82, but it had rained the Saturday evening before and again that Sunday morning.
The interesting thing was that on the flat behind me, 5'-8' depth, the white bass were blowing up on the shad balls. I could see them blowing up in various places along the river channel ledge anywhere the ledge intersected the 5'-8' depth range. I would drop the shakey head rig and throw a Pop-R into the jumps and pick up white bass. My impression was this is the first evidence of a fall-like pattern beginning to develop.

I was going to ask the same thing. I haven't been on JPP or Hickory in the last couple of weeks and I was curious if anything has changed since the cooler day and night temps.

Travis there is a place I go to do 2 weeks of Large Mouth fishing in the Fall...and I only pursue Large Mouth for those 2 weeks out of the whole year. While it would be about a 150 mile drive for you it is something to behold. The Bass come on a flat to gorge themselves with Shad. When they show up I catch 100 to 150 a day all between 2 to 6 pounds. Have had some much bigger on but using 6# test for them and just can't get those Hawgs in. All of this is done from the bank...no boat needed. If you would like to know when they show up and where the place is I will let you know when they start this feeding frenzy and I will PM you the location. It is usually around the second week of September.

Whereabouts were you seeing the whites ? I'm going to oh lake sunday morning in my kayak, so i'd like to know how far a paddle it would be. Pm me if you don't want to reveal it publically...i can keep a secret and don't mind returning the favor.
