View Full Version : OH Thursday night
Went out last night from 9 to 11:30 and did well. 7 nice sized bass with several more lost. First two were shallow on spinnerbaits so I switched to a buzzbait an they were hitting it hard. All the fish were very shallow, 2ft deep or less. I fished mid-depths and deeper channels with no luck at all. Once I went shallow again, I started catching. Fun night.

I'm going in the morning and plan on fishing topwater for as long as I can. I normally fish near Shute's and/or Bluegrass. I will update as well.

Got skunked yesterday morning. I wasn't able to get to the water till 615am and the sun was up. Nothing on top water so I switched to crankbaits and jig. Still nothing. I was very surprised for Hickory. I did notice a lot of fishing boats sitting in the main channel, so I'm assuming they're all fishing deep now that the water temps are hovering in the low to mid 80s.

Just posted another thread. Saturday was tough after dark also. No fish shallow. We were in a creek from the back to the mouth. May have to move to the main channel and see what is happening there on the next trip.
Better luck next time.

I'd be willing to bet part of the problem was they did not start pulling water until 7am that morning. This time of year and really most of the year it is a big plus.

Do they normally post or have info when they're pulling? I hate when I make the drive to Hickory and the fishing is slow, especially when I get off at 6am and pulling the energy to stay awake and fish!

The forecast will show a break down of each lakes power output. The preschedule is usually posted in the afternoon for following day. It will not show you the # of units like the TVA link but will give you an idea of if they are running and when. Plus you can see other places as well in one look. If Old Hickory is pulling and Cordell at the same time is usually the best.
There is a lot of other good info on that site as well.
