View Full Version : Looking for tips on freezing skipjack

Ok here is my problem... Took some skipjack out of my deep freeze last week to go fishing.. But when some of it unfroze it became all soft and fell apart fairly easy.. So am I freezing it to long or not freezing it right.. Oh an some where whole fish and others where cut in sections....

My only tip would be to pray that you never lose power to that freezer!!!!

Try freezing them in bags with water in them.

I used Saran wrap then put in plastic grocery bags

ok first wash your skips off before freezing get the slime of them wrap after wrap them in paper towel then vac pack they come out nice and fresh they also come out nicely ziplockin them this way also

Why not catch them before you use?Are you fishing somewhere that dont have skips?I have heard covering in salt and freezing dry works.Salt should preserve them and may help with the smell if that freezer quits working.
