I'm in the DIY camp. For the cost and aggravation of getting someone else to do it; better to buy the Harbor Freight picker and pull it. Once the entire outboard if off the transom, things get very easy to repair.

My guy retired a couple years back so I've had Clark Marine do a couple things recently on the new boat. I'm going to have them take care of a few things on the boat while we are away on vacation in the next two weeks.

Pat at Stones River Fiberglass in Murfreesboro does a great job. Just had him make warranty repairs on a 2020 StingRay.

I thought you needed trim work done. Depending on motor brand, some dealers and shops will repair and some will only replace ... TK

Yeah sorry I got busy with work and the holiday and wasn't able to respond... its a old '88 procraft 1780 w/ 130 yamaha . . I did try the diy method without buying the engine rack tool but it's def one of the motors that engine will have to come off.

I have an 83 ProCraft with 115 mariner and I would say check with Shhip Shape Marine in Smyrna. No one around here including Clark Marine will work on my motor because it's so old and mechanics are trained on newer motors...??
He is very hands on so he prefers email. He will respond and get you taken care of. He also posts all repairs on his youtube channel if you want to get an idea of how he works before you go any further. YT channel is "Ship Shape Marine", and his name is Larry.
Email address: shipshape@bellsouth.net
Good luck.

Thank you sir. It’s still not easy. I still want to call and talk to him, send him a goofy picture or a woman with her tits hanging out 😂…I’ve been fishing a few more times, and idk, it’s just not the same. Also, sorry for your loss as well.

Rip up the old stuff
Sand and acetone clean the new surface
Lay new carpet using whatever adhesive u choose
Ps I'd look into sea deck or cva foam as an option. Same process
