I was in the process of replacing the line on my old Shimano Mark ll spinning reel yesterday when the spool decided fall apart. I was going buy a new identical reel when it came to my attention that my old reel was considered "Vintage"... How dare they insult my reel by calling it vintage,, rare... classic.. old.
Sadly to say I had to find a replacement reel. The one thing I wanted is reel with a rear drag setup and didn't want to spend a whole lot since this rod/reel combo isn't used much but I use for specific needs.
I came across the KastKing Pontus Baitfeeder Spinning Reel. I have to say that I'm impressed with this little reel. I got the 2000 series because I want a light reel that would handle 6-8# line for 1/4oz and under... or a ned rig in in this case.
It also comes with 2 spools (black & blue) which makes it nice when you need to switch line sizes quickly. I also like the spool design as the drag in built in and held in place with a spring clip... no loose parts to lose.
There is also a free spool lever that allows for free lining without opening the bale. Very unique reel.
For $36 I'm not sure you could do better
