Don't know the full details but my stepdad who helps with the fire Dept. Is on scene right now with another drowning victim. I'll try and update as I found out details and welcome help as well .. I'm guessing someone didn't have their vest PFD on when this storm hit...

Ok somewhat of an update... There has been 2 drownings today. An 8 not wearing a life jacket slipped off a float over at Smith springs and as posted earlier the 2 nd was at elm hill I don't know if it was the bluffs it not. I'm currently without power and slow data so if this all had been reported on the news I apologize.

An 8-year-old girl drowned at Percy Priest Lake at the Smith Springs recreational area Friday afternoon.According to police, the victim Einass Azrag was with her mother and 11-year-old sister when the girls went swimming. Einass was about 50 yards offshore when she could not reach a float she had been using and went under water

And where was the mother while the kids were so far out over their heads ? That poor 11 yr old will be carrying the guilt of her sister for the rest of her life.

So sad

No reason to point blame. Terrible situation in both drownings.

Actually there is good reason to place blame, an 8 year old 50 yards offshore? I'm placing blame on lack of supervision

I read this article awhile back and it completely changed my attitude. I ask everyone to read this because it may save a life...

Yea I passed that article around on a couple of my boating groups because there was a lot of first time tracker boat owners on their.

It should be a must read...

Did your parents ever let you out of their sight?

I may not be the father of the year but my 4 children 11,10,7,7 they don't go near my boat, their kayak or swim in the lake without a life jacket on "properly" They may bitch and whine but its for their own good.

Thats how I was raised, but we were also allowed to go to the river by ourselves.
Often we would just ride logs down the river.

I was a willful child. but they never allowed me over my waist until I knew how to swim and even then....
