Had a good day today. Put in below old hickory dam and just dropped the trolling motor and went fishing. Didn’t catch a ton of fish but we got better quality than usual with the small mouth. We caught ALOT of different species of fish. Largemouth, smallmouth, spots, gar, Buffalo 😂, of course you can’t go to the Cumberland and NOT catch a drum. But the biggest surprise was an 18” walleye!!!! WALLEYE!!!! Zoom Z hog was my go to bait, and is what I caught everything on except the first fish, it came on a square bill. Even the walleye was munching on crawfish!! Biggest smallie was around 16” with a few 14-15’s in there. Anyways, here’s some pics of my handsome smiling face holding up fish!!!

Hell yeah man!! You just never know when you set the hook down there. Walleye is the best tasting fish around.
What was the flow down there?

Looks like it was perfect, one generator kicking on to two - https://www.tva.gov/Environment/Lake-Levels/Old-Hickory

Skillet. You are killing me. I have been wanting to go down there for a couple years and haven't made it yet. If you ever need a net man when you are going please let me know.

Like buccaneer said, it was one generator till 9am and the kicked it up to two. Any more than that and I don’t go down there in my boat. Gets too swift.

I agree. 10-16,000 cfs seems to be my sweet spot down there.

Good Walleye. Crawfish are a Walleye's favorite. Many walleye are caught with crawfish in there gut. Usually in the rocky bottom lakes.

There was nothing in its stomach. I was surprised.

Never been there. Where do you launch. Is it deep enough to take my bass boat ?

Old hickory tail race ramp. And yes, it’s deep enough for your boat.

Josh if you’re coming from Smyrna another option is the ramp at Stones River, Heartland Access. Search it on Google Maps. Drop in, go to the Cumberland, turn right and run to the dam. Plenty of good fishing from the Stones junction with the Cumberland up to the dam.
