I fished JPP today and I left very humbled. I called my best friend who only fishes a couple times a year and told him today was the day so he better make himself free. I don't know what to say really except we didn't catch sqwat. I caught 3 short bass and he didn't catch anything. I told him that the lake has been on fire and we just had a full moon and the water warmed up. Told him they were gonna practically jump in the boat. I don't know what happened. We just had a full moon. The water is up a little and the water temp was 58. This time of year especially with the recent trend; A man should have been able to get in the back of anything and catch lots of bass. Anybody else fish today? Any ideas on why the bite was sooo slow? I assumed that there were fish on bed but there should still have been plenty of active fish up shallow that haven't started spawning yet.

Well better than sitting behind a desk, when the fishing sucks go into scout mode and find new areas/structure, Fished a small lake yesterday and the crappie and bass had bloody tails but had not spawned there yet

I can’t speak for today, but went out yesterday (4/1). Long story short, I was without my boat so I shore fished. I thought the fish would be at the shallow end of the cove, but I was definitely wrong. 2.5 hours without a bite and I kept walking towards the main lake. Finally at the end of the day and no more than 100 yards from the main lake I finally found them. Thee smallmouth in three casts, then two largemouth a little further down. They were in I’m guessing 8’ of water.
All signs pointed to a shallow bite in the back of creeks, but it didn’t turn out like that.

I've had a tuff time on the big lakes with the up and down water levels all year so far.Hoping things are about to get good any time now.

Predicting the bite on JPP has been tough this early spring.

I've been catching a lot of fish on JPP for about a month. They have all been super shallow. The only thing about yesterday that sticks out that may have hurt my pattern was that the water was cleaner in the areas I've been fishing.

I’m thinking the same thing. I can’t ever remember getting to April and having the fish so unpredictable. (At least not the same patterns as years past.)
