Today was my dads birthday so we decided to go fishing. The bite was a little different today and I only got one bite where I caught them the other day. The bite started slow but I got on a bank a we caught a couple small ones. I knew of another bank very similar that was close by so we went there. We started catching them pretty good but they were all small. I dug in my boat and found a buzzbait and tied one on. In 5 minutes I had 3 keepers with two 3.5 lbers. My dad tied on a buzzbait and we started whacking them. We ended up catching a bunch and had a decent limit. I just wish we had a few more hours of daylight after we figured it out.

Good deal! I’m guessing you had the lake to yourself with all that rain? As long as I have good rainwear, I like fishing in those conditions.

Thx guys. I don't mind fishing in the rain either and I never have. My dad on the other hand is a fair weather fisherman and we were catching them pretty good and I don't think he ever really noticed it was raining. It was a fun day. These fish were super shallow and on the flattest stuff you could find but near deeper water.

Thanks for the kind words. I've had some good days and quite a few bad days. Right now the water temps on the lakes around here is just perfect for the bass to be shallow and aggressive. Now is the time to be out there. Another tip is to just think outside the box a little sometimes. My dad was questioning my decision when he saw me tying on a buzzbait yesterday. His reasoning was it's February and I was being silly. I told him the bass we were catching were very shallow and the water temp was 58 degrees and overcast with a light rain. What better scenario do you want for throwing a buzzbait? My quality of fish went up immediately and so did his when he swallowed his pride. Those decisions don't always pay off but it definitely made the difference yesterday.

Went to JPP again Friday. The lake is on fire. We had as bad of conditions as you would want to fish. Post front, bluebird sky, and high pressure, and the lake had come up about 5 feet. We still caught the crap out of them. We caught them on a rattle trap and a crankbait. Both in crawfish colors. JPP is the lake to the be on riggt now for catching big numbers of bass. The bass are very shallow.

I've got vacation all next week and plan to hit JPP on of the days. Never been on the lake. Not asking for any specific spots or anything just in general where should I focus as in what part of the lake. Where is the best ramp to access that part?

I've fished mainly from Hobson Pike bridge to the dam. The most productive areas have been shallow flat stuff on or very close to the main lake. Any boat ramp in that area and you won't have to run much to fish that whole end of the lake.
