Decided at last minute to hit Nickajack tail race this morning just knowing I would catch a ton of KY bass like I have been doing for the past 4 weeks now. I did not catch the first KY bass. I did however load the boat with crappie. I found them in a break water area on the river holding just out of the current. Caught 4 to 5 dozen fish all in the 11-12 inch range. Rod was a Tict Ice Cube 6' 9" Mebaru UL with a Daiwa Certate 2004 reel spooled up with SOS 2# test line. Lure was a Bison colored Trout Magnet on a 1/16 ounce ball head jig......I was also using about an 2 foot section of 2# test Phantom fluorocarbon leader. I was using a count down of 30 to get it in the zone. The crappie were from 8 feet deep down to almost 17 feet. I was using the twitch method with a very slow retrieve. Had a ton of fun today. Crappie are not known to be the most fighting fish but using an UL rod...2# test line.....fighting them through the current.....made for a great day. Life is good!

Way to go Alpha. All species are a blast on the 2 lb line! That SOS has made a believer out of me for sure. Lots more bites = LOTS MORE FUN!
Wear'em out..good to know some people do get to enjoy their retirement!

Nice.
I got so pissed at 4 lbs P-line that I will never use under 6 again on anything and have quit P-line altogether ..haha.

That's a beautiful pic on the sonar. If I rolled over something like that I think I'd pee my pants.

Not this trip. Usually October-December I'll catch a ton of crappie and that is when I'll stock up some to eat.
