Went down to Alabama to help my brother with his high school fishing tournament. Put the boat in on Friday morning, started fishing long rocky points and I caught a small rock fish. Went to fire up and the starter was dead. We beat on it, used jumper cables to by pass the solenoid as a test and after arcing the starter and beating on it, it freed up. Put boat back on the trailer and took it to a friend of his that just happened to have a new starter and solenoid. Replaced all that, charged battery and all was good. Didn't have any idea where to fish Saturday.
Saturday came, 35 teams and 171 boats in a this HIGH SCHOOL tournament. He ended up with 2 spotted bass for 2.4lbs which was good enough for 132 place. It was tough out there, winning weight was 11.x with big fish 3.8 I believe, and it was a spotted bass also. That lake is slam full of them. His next tournament is on guntersville and I hope I'm able to go down for that one too.
I also want to say that it is a sight to see kids from 7th grade to seniors in hs to have such a passion for fishing. It was a great honor to be an observer, just wish I could've helped him do better.
