When are the skipjack usually under old hickory dam?? I caught them in April last year I was wondering how early is too early?

When are the skipjack usually under old hickory dam?? I caught them in April last year I was wondering how early is too early?
We have been catching them from the bank 1/4 mile down from the dam.
As much water as they are spilling, I imagine they are stacked up at the dam.

Oh awesome thanks for the report! I need some catfish bait and have a 4wt fly rod that is itching to be used so why not combine the two...good roll cast practice.

I think skippies are always below the dam. I have caught them all year round down there..

Not true at all. I've been below the dam numerous times when you couldn't find one down there. Ask skillet and deezelteck.

With the skills that you two have, the fish should jump right in your lap out of fear of being hooked and drug into the boat!!

Well I went there today and nothing! But I know there were at least some there...watched a heron scoop one up

Then I have to apologize. I just know that for the past week we have been catching them while fishing for sauger.

I don't know what lure you are throwing, but a 1/8oz to 1/4oz kastmaster spoon or a small grub works well. They are there, just finicky at times..
