Last time I was up at Elm Hill the ramp it was closed off. Does anyone know if you can still put in at Elm Hill ramp? What about Four Corners? I know in the past these two were both "pay" ramps. Is that still the case and how much?

Four Corners had a pay station at the top of the ramp last time I was out there two weeks ago. Cost $8. Need correct change for envelope.

Elm Hill is closed to the public, only slip holders allowed to launch.

So does Elm Hill Marina own the ramp? Did they buy it from the CORP? How can they restrict it? It was once a public ramp I am pretty sure. Anyone know the scoop of how only slip owners can use it now?

Uhmm..I think 4-Corners has gone up since I put in over there. Just wondered if the ramp was open to the public and not slip owners like Elm. I guess the dock to tie boats up after launch is out of the water during winter time...right? Seems to me if your going to charge to use the ramp they would have a nice dock to use that is floating and useable year round. In fact I wish the CORP would do that at all the ramps to help of winter time fisherman out. But then again I know that wont happen.

Interesting to hear about how Elm Hill Marina ramp changed to Marina operated.

The traffic on weekends was causing gridlock on Bell Rd, both directions. Folks couldn't get in or out so Elm Hill petitioned the state and got the ok to restrict usage.

Regarding Elm Hill, I heard that they close it to the public because slip owners raised such a stink as they never could park close and were having to walk too far to the dock. If you keep going south on Bell Rd (away from 40) you will come up on what I've always called Elm Hill #2. It will be the next left. There is a launch fee of $8.00 and it is a good place to launch and there is usually someone there keeping an eye on things. It is the one that has all of the newly added RV parking spaces that you can see from the water when you go to the right out of the original Elm Hill. It seems safe enough to me as I have used it exclusively since they closed the other to the public. I believe they charge anyone coming in a fee so it kind of keeps people that are just "cruising" down to a minimum. You launch into a no wake zone as well so it's nice up until summer, then it can become busier. TWRA is usually nearby as well and can often be seen writing tickets to violators.

Thanks guys for the info and clarification. I saw the ramp you are talking about on Google Earth. I wondered about it and how safe it is. Do you pay to enter or a pay station (insert money into envelope) like Elm Hill or 4-Corners have or had? Does Elm Hill #2 ramp have any certain hours of usage? Again thanks for the info. Just thinking about a closer spot with a dock on the lower end.

EH #2 has a pay station with the envelopes. I always carry a pen and envelope with me in case the ones they have are wet or missing...it happens. The area is open 24 hrs but if there is some rare reason for closing, the yellow iron gate will be closed at the road. It is safe and lighted also. I would much rather launch there than Hamilton creek where there are no lights or patrol.

I honestly wish TWRA/USCoE would bring back paid admission to the ramps to curb the BS. I recall when 4 Corners was nice...now for 8 clams it is a POS. Faggots and crooks were at Hamilton Creek and Elm Hill and have your spare stolen. Long Hunter you would have your windows smashed out and tires shanked. I no longer fish JPP just because it is not worth having my stuff screwed up. Sad

I guess I've just been super lucky but I've never had an issue on Priest. I fish and hunt at some pretty sketchy times too.

Depending on what boat ramps you use, you are very lucky or don't spend much time there. Back when I didn't pay attention and never imagined and didn't understand that thieves don't care, either my vehicle or the person I was with were broke into (none of them high dollar, fancy vehicles either) at Hurricane Creek (broad daylight on a Saturday 4ht of July weekend I left a one dollar bill laying on console, broke passenger window out), Fall Creek, 3 different places parked at access to priest wma, Poole Knobs, and Cooks. I have seen vehicles that were broke into at probably 75 percent of all the ramps on Priest. Haven't had an issue in a while and for the whole lake I park at either Fate Sanders or Four Corners and that is it.
