I know how to change the oil on my motor (you tube videos) but im not sure about what oil to put it in.
Also, i see the oil filter, but i dont know enough about them to know where to buy them. I attached a few pictures of what i have. Any suggestions on anything would be greatly appreciated. Im going to call Anderson tomorrow to see what info they can give me too, i just dont wanna pay thier price for a simple oil change.

TNBB ... AS per my 4 stroke Shop Manual (50HP)these are the oils you can use:

API: SE,SF,SG,SH.
SAE: 10W-30
10W-40
20W-40
Now your second pic tells you the recommended weight for your Motor (I think is a 70HP?) In our climate I would recommend 10W-30 or 10W-40.

As for the Filters (Since I am a Sierra Dealer) The filters list from $10 to $45 depending on your model... I have used the Sierra filters on my Yama and have had excellent service with them ... (10 Micron filters) <'TK><:)

I would go with 10w30 during the winter. And I would use Yamaha oil and filter if motor has a warranty. Oil can be got at just about any outdoor store or dealer. And I believe academy even carries a few of the filters but I'm not anywhere near sure on that.

thanks for the reply guys!
And this may be stupid to ask, but im assuming since i have a 4-stroke engine, i would need the 4-stroke oil correct? since im not manually adding oil to the gas.
i was at academy last night in MJ and didnt immediately see oil filters which was my next question was where to get them, but it sounds like i could get them from TK, which i may end up doing.
i still need to get the motor in for its regular maintenance like the water pump and lower unit grease, but i will leave that up to Anderson Marine to handle.

TNBB, Yes you have a 4 stroke... I really think you need someone who has done this before to service your motor. The Pic's you posted gives you the options on oil Grade/weight and amount as well as oil filter data. Now, All Mercury 50 HP and up 4 strokes use Yama Power Heads. Walmart Carries the oil and I am sure the filter you need for your motor with respect to it's HP under the quicksilver Mercury brand. But any automotive oil that meets the spec's on your data plate has to be honored by the manufacturer, just save the oil bottle for proof.

Now if you can wait until April I would be glad to service and do anything needed for you motor for less than half of any Marine dealer. But whoever does it should be qualified. You have a lot of $$ invested in your rig and I am sure you want to protect your investment. <'TK><;)

I have a Yamaha 115 four stroke. I always go to a Yamaha dealer tell them what I have and they give me the oil and filter kit. I don't use anything but Yamaha oil.

Yeah Anderson sells those kits as well. Somebody was suppose to call me back from there today but they must have got busy. The problem with taking it in, is they said it would be about a 2 week turn around for oil change, water pump and lower unit grease.
i guess for warranty purposes i need to just suck it up and send her off.
But i will be using you TK for my basic stuff after this round.

Be glad to keep my money local too! plus im sure you would have a faster turn around on the regular maintenance stuff. Not fishing is one thing, not being able to fish cause my rig is sitting in a shop yard for 2 weeks is a drag. Lol
