View Full Version : Few new reports

It seems that there are very few reports on fishing anymore.

I have talked to folks out on the water who have hailed me down to talk to me, saying they've seen my reports on FishingTN.com., folks I don't know or recognize even.

Apparently, there are many who read the reports but don't seem to post any reports themselves.

I understand there are a few of us "regulars" that post, but also many of those regulars have stopped posting.

What's up with that?

It's deer season. I've been fishing all of 3 or 4 times since bow season opened.

I haven't been fishing since out with you and bronzeback. 😕. I've been out of town and then down with the flu all this week. I'm now on the downhill side of it. I'm off all next week if you need some company, you know how to get in touch with me!! 👍🏼👍🏼 hope the fishing is still good when I do get back out on the water!!

I plan on trying to go tomorrow if work lets me get out early... I agree with you though it's only right for us all to help one another. I can't ever get a pic to show but I'll start posting my reports as I always look for yours and others... Ive also been tied up deer hunting and haven't fished since Sept. But I'm getting after the Striper this winter! Hard on a man being a fishing and hunting junky!!!

After that epic day with you and skillet, i figured that was as good as it was gonna get so i sunk the boat and burned all my gear. I have since taken up competitive underwater basket weaving. And yes.....its just as tough as it sounds....fierce fierce competitors from all over the globe.
I have tuesday off work......im hitting some kind of water source for the day!

TN, if I followed your example, I'd have burned three boats by now!

I've had three outings in a row that I didn't catch a targeted fish, i.e. sauger/striper.
The day you, skillet, and I fished, was a banner day for sauger (6 fish....5 shorts, one 15 1/4 incher) compared to what I've done lately.
My wife won't even let me park the boat near the house. She says the skunk smell is too bad!
I need to get my butt below Old Hickory dam while they are spilling so much.
But not today.
I've made up some 10" stingers for the short biting (probably small) rockfish. I've had a few grab my skippie and run with it only to have them drop it. Gonna see if I can upset their apple cart today.
Tight lines to all!

I post in the Tennessean News paper on Thursdays (Old Hickory) and here. After you and Woody taught me how to catch those "dump" tilapia as one bass fisherman called them..I have a new desire for winter fishing!

I haven't been out in a month either. Probably hit the water sometime between now and Monday night.

Haven't been out since late Sept. I've got a dog I have to give insulin to twice a day. Of course it is at 6:00 am and 4:00 pm. The two times of the day I need to be on the water. It has put a real stop on my fishing.

Hit the steam plant today before sunrise. The kayaks had already occupied most all of the space near the barrier....though one aggressive boat motored right up and nosed in. Threw topwater....nothing. Didn't see a single person catch anything but some tilapia. Did catch a few stripe on a Arig. No evidence of any feeding. All in all slow, but nice to be out.

I'd say by the time we left there was 30 or so boats/kayaks up and down the canal. Everyone seemed to respect each others space except that first boat.

Striper were feeding all morning beyond the barrier. A lot of action all the way back by the stairs. Not sure why nothing was being caught. Saw everything thrown from flukes, to A rigs, to live shad.

Has anyone been at night lately???

Went out late afternoon yesterday got back to the ramp at 6PM. Had one big bite he was around 20 plus. We saw him surface but he got off. Which was surprising with a circle hook. Oh well Im just thankful he wasnt my first big striper. If so i probably wouldnt have slept last night.

Tried to put in at Coles Ferry boat ramp this morning but there were so many cars "without" trailers that you couldn't even get to the ramp. Ridiculous lol

Oh man thats kind of my situation. I caught my first big one Tuesday. Was fishing out of my kayak and the first time trying to deal with a big fish from it. As I was reaching down to grab him with my fish grips I saw the jig laying on the barrier. I then had a quick realization that the jig was no longer connected to my fish. I leaned over my kayak and was able to grab his tail as he slipped away. Technically a landed fish, but I really wanted a picture :(

I really enjoyed the fight though. They are much stronger than I imagined. He pulled drag to the point where I had to tighten it to stop him. Was using 20lb mono. Just looking to catch another big one now asap. I have landed 2 smaller ones this week as well.

Yea, OK... I suck I work 6-7 days a week now; I watch you guys catch fish all day long at GSP. I had a day off last week and I went Sauger fishing on the river and got one bite...so there you have it. When you guys catch fish give us a showing...makes the day go just a little better.

I plan to try my luck in the rain tomorrow as long as the wind isn't too bad. If I catch one I'll hold it up!

I think maybe the low water levels have put a damper on fishing lately, just a guess. I did get out this afternoon on the river (Cumberland) in west nashville, and it was super slow. Seemed like it should have been a pretty good day to fish, but was not. I usually am at least able to hook a few drum in the creek mouths this time of year, but not today. Jigged around for bass, and did catch 2 little dinks, but that was it. I'm guessing they will be biting like crazy on Christmas day-when everyone is busy with family gatherings. These Big City fish are are getting smart.

I'm back to working two jobs. My free time is very thin and when I have the time I don't want to get up early.

Went to GSP on Wednesday, barrier was packed one kayak caught a couple another boat reeled in one then the stripers shut off. Started fishing for whatever after. Feeled the boat with tilapia, yellows, whites, and bluegills lol. About 20 boats in canal everyone was courteous to one another. A pic of our catches

Nice bunch of fish you got there!

All of them, tasty eaters too.

Hushpuppies, white beans, and cole slaw, you'll have the perfect country dinner.
