...and you will be arrested by TVA police, possessions seized an charged with a felony unfortunately...plant security is heightened, however you can motor right up to the barrier and fish all you want. As I understand from the TWRA guys, the Tilapia are migrating now in the discharge area and can be caught on crappie sized bait throughout the cooler months. In the early morning and later evenings, the shad seem to be on the east side of the discharge in the eddy right at the barrier.

Is the barrier back up front where it was a couple of years ago, or have they moved it back in there a little?

Also heard a rumor a while ago that there was not going to be any more warm discharge at the steam plant? Not sure why or how but has anyone else heard that?

I don't see how. It's a STEAM plant, the warm water has got to go somewhere. :)

Why do you think they call it a discharge? ... It is the spent water, condensate that is used in the steam and turbine process, on the average 12 degrees warmer than the river temp at the discharge. .... <'TK>< ;):)

Ok spent water then whatever it's called. 😀 as long as it's warmer water vs the channel.

...no worries, GAF is a fossil fueled, water cooled, turbine system with ash recovery, new scrubbers (to meet the Clean Air Act) and settling ponds being improved to produce clean fossil power for the next decade. Additionally, the TWRA hatchery on site is providing the next generation of researchers and biologicals.
Please... take advantage of the access presently provided by TVA regarding the discharge canal.

Memory is still good. Here's what I remember reading in a January post. For those of you who know about the internal operation of steam plant thanks for your input!
