The SCV is hosting a Turkey Shoot at the Wilson County Fairgrounds this Sat, Nov 5th, from 8 AM till early afternoon.
If you are unfamiliar with a turkey shoot, here is how it works. Its shotgun only, and you purchase a ticket to a round ($5) specific to the type of prize you want. (turkey, bacon, ham, cash, everyone in that round is shooting for the same prize.) There are 12 targets set up 30 yards away. Each ticket is specific to a target, so each shooter in turn is given a shell (we provide ) and takes their shot at their target. After all 12 shots are fired the targets are collected, and the pellet closest to the center wins.
This is a GREAT opportunity to bring your family and get them involved in the shooting sports. I worked our last shoot and we had quite a few women and kids getting their first experiences with shooting and having an absolute blast. Even if you do not have a gun we will have loaners available.
So come on out this sat and experience some good fellowship, southern hospitality, and maybe bring a turkey home for Thanksgiving to boot.
