Well I took a buddy of mine out fishing with the hopes to put them on his first STRIPER. Finding live baits was not a hard task at all as my first cast was jam-packed with herring.
When we arrived at the spot the screen was loaded with fish mid range or 20' and deeper. So I spotlocked the MotorGuide and depoloid 3 live baits one free lined off the flat one (strip bait) light weighted. And two (live) in the ttop rod holders placed baits just above the suspended readings. I thought we were in for an afternoon of Striper.
Free line rod starts to sing ended up being a 13 pound flathead.
Strip bait rod starts to scream yet another big Flathead..
I thought to my self well this is different but it's still a good time let's carry-on .
So we did and there he was bottom rod really takes off I'm telling myself that has got to be the striped one we were looking for and little did I know it ended up being a Sturgeon completely overjoyed I looked at it as a great accomplishment!

Have you got a pic and/or description of the fish. Just curious as too its dimensions. I thought this would start happening sooner or later.

Now I may be going crazy, which is a possibility, but I could have sworn I saw a picture of the sturgeon on this post...or was it a mirage???
